Samantha Levine

Samantha has long been drawn to visual art — drawing, painting, and film – but returned to photography after moving to Florida and spending time on the water. While paddleboarding, she began photographing the shifting colors and rhythms of the landscape, drawn to the hypnotic quality of the horizon.

Over time, she have discovered that the most compelling aspects of my art emerge through the editing process. By layering images and experimenting with color, saturation, and motion, she creates photographs that are more interpretive than literal, that move beyond documentation to capture the feeling of a place or time.

The resulting works sit on the boundary between photography and painting, with an abstract, watercolor-like sensibility that invites viewers to experience the feelings behind the image.

Samantha’s photos have been exhibited at:

City Arts Gallery’s H2Show (twice), Abstract Mind, Sensory Overload, Monster, Abstract Mind and Black & White Exhibits;

Mt. Dora Studio ArtFarm’s Beauty of Water, “Persona” Portrait” and Local Landscape exhibits;

“She Who Tells a Story” exhibit at the Highlands Art League/Museum of the Arts in Sebring;

Art Center Sarasota’s Paradise exhibit, Avalon Park Art Center’s '“Call to Convervation,” The Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar’s “Purple” Exhibit as well as Orlando City Hall, Photo Artfolio and the Artful Exchange.

Most recently, her collection” Brilliant Disguise” was on display at Eola View in Orlando from April 16 through end of May and she was a contributing arist in the 100% Pure Florida” exhibit at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, FL1.

Her work is currently on display in the “Florida” exhibit at Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar and the “Put a Bird on It” exhibit at the Falcon Bar.
